RHEA GARY

Rhea Gary received her MFA from LSU. She also studied in special programs in France, Ireland and Italy as well as with well known artists in the United States. As a lifelong Louisianan, Rhea holds dear the wetlands and natural beauty of her home state. One cannot help but feel the artist’s affection and tender sense of appreciation for the scenery of this very fragile earthly paradise.

 

Rhea has received numerous honors and awards for her work through exhibitions and juried shows across the country. She is the co-author of the popular book, “Marsh Mission, Capturing the Vanishing Wetlands”. Her works are held in museum, private and corporate collections and have been published in numerous national magazines. She has been featured on television on  CBS Sunday Morning, Delta Hands and Louisiana Public Television. This widespread distribution of her work allows people everywhere to share in her joyful artistic statement of love for the places she paints.

 

Rhea and her husband Leon have three children, and four grandchildren. The Gary family divide their time between homes in Baton Rouge, Birmingham, AL and Cashiers, NC.
